If you’re a baby boomer, you’re expecting Medicare to pay for that knee replacement or cataract operation you’ll need in 10 or 20 years. Don’t count on it. Health care reform is taking a dangerous turn. Democrats, energized by the failure to repeal Obamacare, are again pushing a government takeover of health care they call “Medicare for all.” Democrats took the first step last week, announcing a Senate bill to expand Medicare for people age 55 and up. Boomers beware. These schemes will push people 65 and older to the back of the line for health care.

It’s already happening in the U.K., where government-run health care is targeting boomers for deadly rationing. Faced with a budget crisis, Britain’s National Health Service is limiting the procedures seniors need most: hip and knee replacements, cataract operations, angioplasty and colonoscopies. It’s a preview of what American boomers can expect under a Medicare-for-all system.

Once people over 65 have to compete with a younger population for health resources, they lose. Britain’s boomers are told they have fewer years of life ahead to benefit from costly medical procedures.

The world is witnessing a political mutiny that is unprecedented in the annals of American history. Donald Trump was duly and overwhelmingly elected President of the United States on Tuesday November 8, 2016. He received the votes of almost 63 million Americans, the highest total ever for a Republican Party presidential candidate. Through a remarkably targeted campaign, he won electoral votes in 31 states, destroying his opponent in the Electoral College. For any other President, his opponents would have given him a “honeymoon,” and allowed his administration to get started and implement his agenda.

Unfortunately, these traditional American political norms do not apply to Donald Trump. Despite his legitimate victory, Trump has been the subject of an unrelenting and unparalleled number of deceitful attacks from his disgruntled opponents. Immediately after his victory, a sinister network of deep state operatives, Obama holdovers in the bureaucracy, “Never Trump” Republicans, Democrats, and biased liberals in the media joined forces to achieve one goal, overturning the election results.

The reason this corrupt cabal is trying to invalidate the will of the American...

“For the world is broken, sundered, busted down the middle, self ripped from self and man pasted back together as mythical monster, half angel, half beast, but no man...Some day a man will walk into my office as a ghost or beast or ghost-beast and walk out as a man, which is to say sovereign wanderer, lordly exile, worker and waiter and watcher.” ― Walker Percy, Love in the Ruins

As someone who is involved in the Culture War from the production end — albeit in a very modest way as a lowly grunt soldier — I thought I’d share my observations and ruminations, at the instigation of Dr. Faria, prompted by the sharing with him of a music video that I was involved with making over thirty years ago.

In my youth, I became preoccupied with the desire to hop aboard the “Rock and Roll Rollercoaster”, and ride it to some distant, dark, and veiled land of undefined enchantment and fulfillment and contentment. A notion that, it seems, is “common as sparrows”; as verified by the legions of Facebook “friend” suggestions I receive — a seemingly endless (and largely interchangeable) multitude of tattooed...

In Part 2, we debunked propaganda, erroneous claims, and phony statistics cited by obfuscating, socialized medicine proponents to tar the U.S. health care system. In Part 3, we continue to debunk misinformation and describe how government interference in the medical marketplace has contributed to, and in certain instances even created, the problems we are experiencing today. Yet, Democrats and proponents of socialized medicine insist more government is needed, and that ultimately the single payer system is the solution. Factoids, misinformation, phony claims and misleading statistics are all used in that effort.

When it comes to health statistics, one must ascertain that the data cited have not been tortured until they confess. The U.S. public health establishment has become a willing vehicle because it has become so politicized that figures and statistics must be checked and double-checked, especially when it concerns social and economic issues impacting on health care policy. And make no mistake about it, more than ideology plays a role; the allocation of public funds for programs or research, so intertwined with financial self-interest, is also a major consideration...

Even here in Los Angeles, the movie capital, many theaters have closed, and the remaining ones are over half empty. A few films still take in many millions of dollars, at least inflated dollars, but the movie business is in decline. Why?

People have many more entertainment choices than they did in the past. There are hundreds of TV channels, music videos, video games, and the Internet. Many people watch DVDs at home, so the empty theaters may be deceptive. Despite these explanations, it’s clear that movies play a much smaller role in the lives of people today than they did in former years. But it’s equally clear that the movie makers themselves are at least partly responsible.

Aiming movies at young people

Most moviegoers are young. Understandably, movie moguls aim films at this audience. But this raises two questions. The first is the chicken-egg problem. If you make films for young people, mainly young people will see them. This is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The second question is deeper. Film makers try to please young people, but how? When I was young, I was called an adolescent. This term denotes someone becoming an adult, just as obsolescent...

Once upon a time, praising the essence of what is America was a good thing.

Normal even.

Not anymore. Do that now and you are written off as a racist or a member of the alt-right. Mention God and country and you are branded a “Nazi.” Talk about traditional family values and you are a homophobe. Discuss following the rule of law about immigration and you are labeled with all sorts of “phobes.”

If you talk about protecting Western culture and values, leftists will lose their minds the way they did after President Donald Trump’s speech in Poland last week before the G20 summit in Hamburg. Social media lit up with ridiculous inferences about Trump being Hitler-2.0. It is as if they really believe Dr. Goebbels escaped from Hell to ghostwrite the speech, making one wonder if Ann Coulter was correct when she said, “Liberalism is on the spectrum of mental illness.”

The problem is, though, Trump’s speech about the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 was fact based, commemorating one the darkest seasons in Poland’s history. A time when Poles were desperately sandwiched between two evils and unsuccessfully tried to oust the Nazis already occupying Warsaw so they could...

In Part 1 of this article we discussed the content and tone of the political rhetoric used by leftist propagandists in criticizing the proposed GOP health care plans vis-à-vis ObamaCare. We will now describe the propaganda efforts used by progressives to cite dubious statistics, tar, and misrepresent the U.S. health care system. A recent commentary illustrates this propaganda, claiming, “the British Medical Journal revealed the overall danger of American medical care in an editorial, “Medical error — the third leading cause of death in the U.S.” The writer goes on to compare our “broken system” to those of other industrialized nations that purportedly are cheaper and better.

The British Medical Journal article cited by the author, in fact, had a significant caveat, “Medical error is not included on death certificates or in rankings of cause of death,” further warning that the statement is “only an estimate by two researchers,” concluding that “better reporting” is needed. Indeed, let’s begin with the British themselves.

British officials of the National Health Service (NHS) are so proud of their NHS that they are willing to concoct figures, not only to praise...

Of a fallen tree all make kindling, says the old proverb, and like most refrains, it conveys an element of truth. The fact the Republicans are having difficulty agreeing on a winning alternative plan to ObamaCare makes both the Senate and House proposals looming targets for critics. The Left’s ultimate goal is to dismantle the American health care system and turn it into an instrument for people control — the government as single payer, in other words, fully socialized medicine “as in all other industrialized nations.” And they have not been unsuccessful in this arena. Aided by the mainstream media, the debate keeps shifting leftward, and the Republicans, despite majorities in both houses of Congress, do not seem to have a winning strategy.

Towards lending support to the Democrats, pundits and propagandists have spread more than the fair share of half-truths.

A recent writer for example lamented, “Millions of Americans who were able to purchase insurance since ObamaCare was enacted would lose coverage if either plan [the Senate or the House version] became law, and most of the savings from the tax cuts in their plans would be reaped by those with higher incomes...

In a story about the Women’s March on Washington, Time magazine published various “Portraits of Dissent” that included the views of a 17-year-old Calvert County, Maryland, high school senior with the words “Nasty, Queer, Bitch,” marked on her cheeks and forehead. She was quoted as saying rights were in danger because of the Trump presidency and that Vice President Mike Pence “is someone that supports electroshocking people like me to turn us into people we aren’t.”

Pence never said any such thing. But where did this fictional and irrational claim come from? And why did Time publish this lie?

A new report from the National Task Force for Therapy Equality to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) identifies precisely where many of the false claims are originating. The report, entitled, “Lies, Deception, and Fraud,” accuses the Southern Poverty Law Center, Human Rights Campaign, and the National Center for Lesbian Rights of a hate campaign designed to ban psychotherapy for individuals with sexual and gender identity conflicts.

You may recognize the Human Rights Campaign as the pro-Obama group that furnished a speaker for the FBI’s recent gay “pride”...

The story of the leftwing hatred-spewing activist, James Hodgkinson, who shot three people — including the third highest ranking Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Steve Scalise, at a Republican baseball practice for a charity event in Alexandria, Virginia  — has understandably overshadowed another tragic incident that began close to home in Baldwin County, Georgia. The episode is worth recounting because there are many lessons to be learned about the misuse of guns in the hands of criminals and the defensive use of guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 13, 2017, two convicts, Donnie Rowe and Ricky Dubose, escaped after subduing, disarming, and then allegedly shooting in cold blood two guards who were transporting them along with 31 other prisoners in a Baldwin State Prison system bus. The convicts shot dead correctional officers Sgt. Christopher Monica and Sgt. Curtis Billue (photo, left). Escaping with the guards’ 9 mm pistols, the two convicts carjacked a series of vehicles until they reached Madison, Georgia, where they ransacked a home, stole food and clothes, and abandoned their prison...
